Our human approach often operates in exactly the opposite fashion to what would be fairest and most effective. We tend to wait for those who most need help to take the first step: by seeking, finding, knocking on the right door and explaining their situation clearly. And it is true that if anyone has an emergency they themselves need to call an ambulance or the fire brigade or whatever. But in the case of children in difficult circumstances while their parents try to rebuild their lives, this logic fails to work properly. They often don’t have the stability to start this search. And this is where you and those around you, together with us, can help families who need us; we need to inform them that our foster service exists.
Inspired by the meaning of Emmanuel, “God with us”, we understand that true help springs from the initiative of those providing the assistance, from their love towards those in need. Just as Jesus drew near to humanity without waiting for us to know how to seek him out, we too are called to approach the guardians of vulnerable children, to offer them care, stability and a helping hand while their parents get things back to normal. Sorting out problems with housing, employment, health, etc., takes time. What’s more, drawing near to a child to provide assistance means bending down to their level. It involves giving them what they don’t know how to ask for. Thank you for joining with us in providing information.
