Whenever the weekend comes round again at our Home, the “Resi”, two joyful words with the initials BF ring out time and again: ¡Buen “finde”! (Have a good weekend!). Those long-awaited two days arrive in which each child can be with their family on Saturday and Sunday. The children need to see their mothers, fathers and other relatives. And they need the weekly break from school. But they need even more to live with their biological family as much as possible. It’s good that they get to experience what, one day, sooner or later, must be their return to normal family life.

With those same initials, BP, we can also form the Spanish expression “bienestar familiar” (“family welfare” or “family wellbeing”). We want to express all our support and sympathy for the biological families of our children. These families are dear friends that have asked us for help. They are fighters on the battlefield of life, with the odds stacked against them. We admire them and work as a team with them to look after their children. Our hope is that each family can normalise their situation and that the initials BF will not just stand for having a good weekend but will also translate into long-lasting family wellbeing.
