Groundhog Day?

“Groundhog Day” is a science fiction film in which Phil, the main character, gets “trapped in a time loop”. Every morning he wakes up on the same date – the calendar never moves forward. Every day is the same. Time and again he encounters the same people and events. But Phil uses this nightmarish situation to gradually improve his behaviour and his relationships during this never-ending day. This leads him to achieve freedom, not only from the repetitiveness, but also from his own serious defects.

Leaving fantasy to one side, in real life we don’t have so many chances to mitigate and correct our own and other people’s errors. Here in our Home, the “Resi”, each day, each month, each year, it seems as if we go through the same set of circumstances, with the kids, their ages, their challenges, their issues, their solutions. But in reality, every opportunity is unique. Every day counts when it comes to loving, helping, and instructing. We need to make the most of each moment to provide training – maybe tomorrow we won’t get the chance to do the good we can do today. Let’s use the present all we can.
