Volunteers
A great help
The same as in any other home, the children need lots of attention, affection and correction. Every day, at many different times of the day, adults need to be on hand, ready to help them.
The work of the care team at our Children’s Home is complemented by the support of a group of volunteers who freely offer their specialised help, to assist in implementing the care project. They are coordinated by the official carers and work with the children by providing private remedial tuition, running recreational activities, games and pastimes, extracurricular sports or cultural activities, providing child counselling, and so on. A good number of volunteers help at our home with kitchen work, or DIY, maintenance and cleaning, or computing or legal advice, or collecting special donations of food or other products, and so on.
There are also two volunteer functions which warrant a special mention: firstly, the Board of Governors for the Emmanuel Children’s Home Association, and secondly, the tremendous dedication of the foster families.
